Organizing for your Space & Soul

Writer: Stephanie MorganStephanie Morgan

When we think of feeling better we usually jump right to eating better or working out, but rarely do people connect their surroundings with how they feel. The way your room, car, house, living spaces in general are kept up reflects a lot on how you're feeling and how you will feel. I love working with all my clients and everyone has such different reasons for why they just can't keep up with the clutter. During this blog I'm going to discuss clutter caused by anxiety and depression.

I myself suffer from horrible anxiety, which is why ALL THE THINGS NEED TO BE IN THEIR PLACE! Because I can't control my brain as much as I'd like, I've learned to control my environment which in turn helps relax my mind. When we're not feeling like ourselves or we're not in a good mood in general, the last thing we think about doing is tidying up around us. But I promise, it helps. It may not turn you into Positive Patty overnight but it will definitely help you feel productive for that moment and when you look around you it'll give you a sense of accomplishment which will release endorphins aka your happy hormone! And you never know, it may trigger your inner organizing Tasmanian devil and have you on a rampage to organize ALL THE THINGS!

So next time you're feeling down, try picking up some stuff around you. Even if you just focus on 1 item, for example your pet's toys, or maybe some random towels that are laying around. Get that dopamine pumping!
